Dessa Logo

After being acquired by Square in February 2020, the decision was made to rebrand Dessa to a “secret AI lab” that emphasizes creativity and imagination in machine learning.


I was inspired by the imaginative stories of Roald Dahl and decided to position Dessa as the “Willy Wonka of ML”. Since Dahl’s font style is imperfect and quirky, I drew the logos by hand for a unique effect, including arrows to show directional flexibility.

Impossible Machines

As part of Dessa's rebrand, I created a series of illustrations, affectionately known as the “Impossible Machines”, for use on all of our collateral. These adorable robots are meant to be a visual representation of how much work goes can go into the machine learning process, even if the results seem simplistic.The Impossible Machines can be found on the Dessa website, social media and printed swag.

Thermostat Installation videos

During my time at ecobee, I was given an opportunity to experiment with a new medium by art directing installation videos for 2 product launches: ecobee3 lite in October of 2016 and ecobee4 in May of 2017.


In collaboration with an external videographer, hand model and voiceover artist, as well as ecobee’s internal product and customer service teams, the videos launched after about 6 weeks of shooting and editing. Feedback has been very positive from customers and the tutorials have contributed to the reduction of customer service calls by as much as 60%.

Press page Redesign - Square

After 6 years, Square's Press page got a global revamp just in time for the 2022 holidays. The page was redesigned and launched in 8 different countries.
